SAT Scores
In 2018–19, SAT results for our district revealed strong performance, with a significant number of 11th-grade students meeting or exceeding standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. However, the pandemic in 2020–21 led to disruptions that affected testing and participation. During that year, only 35.1% of students met or exceeded ELA standards, and 45.9% achieved similar results in Math.
By 2022–23, recovery efforts showed promise, with 47.1% of students meeting or exceeding ELA standards and 35.2% in Math. Most recently, in 2023–24, these numbers continued to improve, with 48.5% proficiency in ELA and 39.2% in Math. While encouraging, these figures underscore the need for sustained focus on Math achievement.
Key observations include:
1. Recovery efforts have significantly improved participation rates, ensuring more reliable and comprehensive data.
2. Students with disabilities showed some improvement but still lag behind their peers, requiring targeted support.
3. The district’s progress in ELA demonstrates that focused interventions can yield results, which should now be replicated for Math.
As your school board member, I will prioritize early interventions, targeted supports, and equitable access to advanced coursework to ensure all students have the tools to succeed. Together, we can build on this progress and ensure every student in D158 is prepared for future opportunities. Vote Corine Burns on April 1, 2025.
